Well, there it is. My engine is officially Pontiac Blue.
I’m reallt happy with how it came out, it was absolutely worth cleaning it up and doing it. Plus I only used about 2/3 of a can of primer and paint each, so I can return the full cans tomorrow.
Next up is installing the oil pump and buttoning up the oil pan for good. I think that’s likely what happens tomorrow, so that’s exciting.

Looks good! I wish painted engines would make a comeback in the modern age.

I’d probably settle for just being able to see the damn engine in modern cars.

Paint doesn’t like to stick to aluminum, sadly.

I really dislike those plastic vanity panels on engines, so silly.

They’re also sound deadening panels to quell noise from the HPFP in DI systems.

I can promise this car will not have one.

Neat, I didn’t know that.

Very nice, i always find it strange when someone goea through all the trouble of pulling an engine to do something and then not painting it before reinstalling it, painted engines always run better and make more power, its a scientific fact.

Pretty engines are powerful engines, this is the way.
